GSMUN is an annual Model United Nations Conference that provides university students around the world an atmosphere of mutual understanding for all voices to be heard about international relations and global affairs.

This is the 14th year of promoting international understanding, cooperation, and the development of real world solutions. Topics at the conference vary year to year, but they always include pressing current problems that the international arena confronts.

Galatasaray Euroforum, first held in 2001, has always been a pioneer Model European Union Conference that takes place in Istanbul, Turkey. As well as the academic debates, all participants will be hosted in a city where two continents, different civilizations, eastern and western cultures collide to form a unique mosaic. Galatasaray University is situated in Ortaköy, a popular district on the sea side in Istanbul. Being the first of its kind in Europe, Galatasaray Euroforum has given birth to GSMUN (Galatasaray Model United Nations) Conference in 2010, which gives the participants the opportunity for a hands-on experience in decision-making procedures of the United Nations.

Galatasaray Model EU Conference has its structure deriving from the Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences that have been organized globally since 1950s. Role playing principles are applied through precise procedures to allow students to discuss important issues currently in the global agenda.

As described, GSMUN contains all qualities that a delegate would look for in an MUN organization; it offers high academic profile, an open minded discussion field and international friendships GSMUN places students in the position of state delegates, ambassadors, journalists and other world leaders, asking them to research and debate vital global issues.

The participants can express their ideas about international policy and peace; also they can learn new ideas and topics from conferences which will be given during the organization. Furthermore, they can face with all delegates coming from all over the world and all around Turkey. Each year, over 150 students from top universities attend this prestigious conference. These students, motivated to tackle real world issues and driven to succeed, are the leaders of tomorrow.

Costs

There are two periods for applications:

• 1st period starts from 29 January 2014 and ends on 18 March 2014.

• 2nd period will be maintained between 19 March – 14 April 2014.

The conference fees for the first period of the application is 50 € for the participants out of Turkey and 160 TL for Turkish participants.
The conference fees for the second period of the application is 60 € for the participants out of Turkey and 190 TL for Turkish participants.

At the end of these periods*, participants whose applications are accepted will receive the bank account number (that they will send the fees) in an e-mail.

The application fee includes:

4 Days of lunches
Coffee breaks
Printed documents
The transportation by shuttles (shuttles will be departing from Europlaza Hotel)
International night event

IMPORTANT REMINDING: The GSMUN Organization does not provide the money transfer costs.

A “tip” : If you consider coming as a group, we recommend you to send the payment at once, so that the costs will be lower for each person.

Accommodation

The participation fee for the conference does not include the accommodation expenses.

GSMUN Organization Team, after a long research process to adjust the best price/quality balance, proposes youEuroplaza Hotel, situated in a very good location (close to Taksim Square). This hotel will also host the participants for the International Night which is presumed to be organized at the night of 18 April.

For 5 days (Check-in: 18 April / Check-out: 23 April), accommodotaion fees cost ;

• During the first registration period: 170 € (34 € per night)

• For the second registration period: 200 € (40 € per night)

(The rooms are for 3 or 4 persons)

* For the participants (coming from out of Istanbul) who must arrange their flights as soon as possible, the GSMUN Academic Team may arrive to a decision before the ends of application periods due to the rolling admission policy.
