Learning different ways of non-violent communication is not only a way for the growth of each of us personally.

Learning different ways of non-violent communication is not only a way for the growth of each of us personally.

Forum for freedom in education (Croatia) is publishing a collection of workshops for working with children and youth in the field of non-violent communication.

Learning different ways of non-violent communication is not only a way for the growth of each of us personally, but also growth of our relationships with others, and path to more satisfied, empathic and successful society. These skills were taught and trained through joint work of young people and youth workers in a training course “Nonviolent Communication – a path for growth in youth work”. The training was organized by the Forum for Freedom in Education, with financial support of the European Commission through the Youth in Action Programme. This training course gathered 27 participants from 5 different European countries at the end of August 2011 in Crikvenica,Croatia.

Participants did not only gain new knowledge and skills, but also with their active contribution to this program, they made it richer and comprehensive. In order to share their experiences and ideas with others who have not had a chance to be part of this training, we have gathered and documented their work and some of their ideas.

This compilation comprises exercises and workshops resulting from group work based on knowledge and skills learned at the training. These are simple exercises and workshops that can fit into a larger program of learning in formal and non-formal education. They are divided according to themes (Communication and Empathy, Stereotypes and Prejudice, Conflict Resolution, Personal Development) and for each of them there is specified goals, target group, composition, expected duration, necessary materials, description and instructions.

Compilation will soon be available on our website www.fso.hr. We hope you’ll find it useful.
